I have been making hats! here are a few of the ones I have made mostly as gifts to my kid's friends for their Birthdays and to my own kids.

I used Danelle Ortega's pattern to do the nose and the ears for my Hello Kitty hat, I wish I had seen her tutorial before I did my own bow wich is not as nice ;)

Sad Goodbyes

Last month one of my bestfriends ( ever! ) came to visit me and I got to meet her munchkins for the very first time.. it was a dream come true to see her children playing with mine and then she left and I was left heart broken.

This month my bestfriend from this neck of the woods is leaving with her family to move back home. I can not express how sad I am, I am not just loosing a friend and a companion on my journey of motherhood.. but I am loosing family.

hi, I have been away for more than a month, I have been so busy that I have neglected my poor little blog. I have made many hats over the holidays, some were commissions but most were birthday and Christmas presents for my kid's friends, I also made a pink owl hat for my little girl for Christmas my other two little ones are still waiting for theirs ;) I am planning to make a white owl hat for my youngest and my oldest just wants a beanie... black with blue stripes ( boring! ) but if that's what he wants that's what I will make for him.

I finished the hats that my friend asked me to do for her munchkins! I am so proud of my self!!!! I got them done in a week,
the 'inspiration ' for the lady bug hat that actually looks like a lady bug came from here:
http://www.kidsentertainment.biz/gifts.html although hers is much nicer, I did not buy the pattern for it, and I only made it for this friend.

The other hats are what my friend requested, the monkey and the lady bug hat with out a face are both just beanie hats with ear protectors added and then with embellishments ;) Here are some links on how to crochet a simple beanie. Believe me I could teach my self from watching these videos and reading books so can you.

Hi I haven't posted anything, but I have actually been crocheting like a spider some ' Zhu Zhu pouches' for my kid's friends.. For every birthday that we have gone to we have given out a Zhu Zhu pouch or in the case of one of my daughters' bestfriend we gave her a handmade dollie ;) here are the photos of the crafts that I managed to do this summer:

I gave away the hats that I had made for my baby at the hospital to two moms taht I met there.. they were too small for my baby's head! well one was, the other one was meant for a boy.. so I gave it to a little boy.

I had a baby girl a month ago, she came in the middle of chaos and after a scary fall... But we had a very happy ending, she is ok, and as beautiful as my last two ;) whom are very happy to have a baby sister!

I made this special baby mobile for two dear friends of ours who just had a baby boy, did you guess that the theme of the baby's room it's a Jungle? I hope they like it, you can find the free pattern on how to make this wonderful banana guy at Amigurumi Paradise ;) I love her patterns!

The Ninja Turtle hat is for one of my bestfriend's little boy, it's going to be a very very late birthday present or now an early Christmas present ;) I need to fix the eyes first though... I bought this pattern from Beach Bunny Designs. Here is my 5 year old modeling the hat for my friend's little boy.

I finished a new little mermaid for one of my good friend's little girl, who just happens to be one of my daughter's best friend. On Saturday we are going to her third birthday ;) this mermaid has been very costume made for her, she asked for the purple tail and purple hair. Think she will like it?

I also fixed Danielita's dollie for her, the neck wasn't holding the head up, so I had to re open the dollie and add a wooden ' spine', and that did the trick.

Then you can see the next mermaid in line, it's for one of my best friend's little girl who lives in Quebec, this will be a very late birthday present I am afraid.
I am really getting a lot out of this pattern ;0) love it!

On another note, this is the latest stray that I picked up, I found her wondering on a busy street, I almost hit her with our van, I have been calling vet clinics and shelters and every number that I can think of for a week trying to find her owner. So far no luck.. isn't she a doll? Mean while my husband is ready to divorce me over my latest rescue project, I had promised him that the last stray was the last one..

This weekend one of my dearest friend finally had her baby girl ;) they named her Kara! ooh how we have all been waiting for this precious munchkin.. She was a week late!!!!! In my anxiety to finally meet her I kept busy by making her these three hats:
By friday I knew that it was a girl, so I had to make a few changes to the blue one.. just a pink flower to make it more girly ;)

I made this special purple hat for my little princess, after all we share this in common, Purple is my favourite color too ;)

I made these two new mermaids for two of my kids' friends, who just happen to be sisters ;) I hope they liked them, their mom Julie, who is a dear friend picked them up on her way home tonight. This was a very very late birthday present, I have learned my lesson, I will start all birthday presents well in advance.

When my little girl saw the dolls and me taking photos, she ran to get her own dollies, and we had a nice photo session with Mermaids and her doll Pink, and her favorite doll of all times, ' Dollie', she is the reason why I started making my own dolls. I am happy that she also likes the ones that I have made for her so far ( the pink little girl and the purple mermaid, pattern also by Anapaulaoli.

I haven't posted a good photo of this either, it's a lady bug purse that I made for Dani earlier in the summer. I got this purse pattern from CrochetVillage on Etsy, she is also a very sweet lady, I plan to get more patterns from her in the future.

Finally a few shots of one of the biggest love of my life, my dear 17 year old PooToo, the orange kitty all curled up. She's been diagnosed with Cancer and is not expected to last much longer. I am trying to say my goodbyes and having a hard time with it. She truly is my oldest friend.

It's funny that it would be on her last year of her life that she would find a cat that she finally tolerates. She's never liked any cats.. well except for her own babies ( she had 3 ) and her sister Gordita ( my mom's 17 year old cat ). But here is proof of her eating with Gary our 3 year old deaf kitty. Maybe he is just a very special kitty, he has to be to win her over like that. This has never been seen PooToo sharinga food dish.. I thought I would never see the day.

Poor Gris watches on, she's always dreamed of sharing a dish with PooToo.. ( she is the gray kitty )

Finally his plan has been revealed! you see before he picked this spot to sit on, there used to be a ceramic cat there, looking just like that, funny enough this same cat broke it last week, and now look at him! he wanted to BE the cat in the mantel!

Before my friend got too mad at them and made them clean up, which she never did, she found it amusing too, I ran to get the camera and take this shot ;)

I made the beaver for my 5 year old son, because his soccer team is called " The Beavers ". Now that my little girl's birthday is over.. I am actually going to sit down and make her something special...tsk.. tsk
I concentrated too much on making the cupcakes to give away at her party and the dollie for her bestfriend, and the candy for her other bestfriend that she ended up with nothing specially made for her! the most important and special little girl there is in my world..

So I am making her a mermaid.. and a dollie and a giraffe and a purse and butterflies.. it might take me all summer long but I am doing it ;) and for my Diego, well what ever he wants I will make ;)

Any hoo, so this week I am making 2 hedgehogs to give away at the graduation on Friday, my big boy is graduating from preschool.. oh the tears that are coming.. 2 of his friends will get a hedgehog and he will get something special not, not sure what yet ;)

Again using Ana Paula's pattern's Ana Paula's patterns I made ... 13 cupcakes, and one very special dollie for my daugther's best friend who is having a birthday party tomorrow morning.

The cupcakes were for my little girl's birthday party today ;) every one of her special little friends got a cupcake ;)
There were some friends missing... so i need to make still even more cupcakes!

This will be what they get when they come to her birthday party on Saturday, boys are getting dollar store toys.. sorry boys.. no time to make them something cool and boyish like a bean bag.. any way, here is last weekend's cupcake, which was a birthday present for one of my kid's friend. ;) she will have to get something different than a cupcake for Daniela's birthday.. maybe an icecream cone.

I made this cupcake using Ana Paula's patterns, this time I made one for Diego's oldest friend, he's known her since he was a baby.. and she was turning 5, only 2 weeks after my little man did.. Crochet Hedgehogs

My little hedgehogs ( From Ana Paula's patterns ) are multiplying, the second one you see here is for one of my little guy's friend from preschool. They have known each other since they were babies and now she is moving back with her family to the states.. I hope she liked it, it was very sad and emotional to go and say goodbye to this precious little girl...

Finally a photo of my 30 something year old bear " Osita " and my 17 year old cat "PooToo" they are both so loved ;) I don't know what would become of me if anything happened to one or the other..

I am making my little man a birthday present for Sunday.. the big day when he will be turning 5.
They read a book at the preschool about a hedgehog at the beginning of the school year, I found it very cute and he loved the book.. so I decided to crochet him a little hedehog with a little apple stuck to the back, here is the book that the little hegdehog that I am trying to recreate is from:

And finally here is where I am getting the pattern from ;) from this awesome book... Amigurumi World, the author is such a nice lady, and very kind too, go visit her blog, and buy her books! yes there is two of them.

So any way here is what I have so far, I am struggling with the fur or spikes on the hedgehog's back.. I don't think I can follow her pattern, my brain is not making sense of it.. so I might try something else form another one of her patterns ;)

Working on Birthday presents

My little boy Diego will be 5 on May 17.... i need to make something cool and special for him.. but what? another painted rock? another pillow? curtains? ... scarf? beanballs? all of those things have been already made for him.. he is into BAkugans.. * ideas? *

My little girl Dani will be 3 on June 11... for her it's more easier to come up with ideas.. she would LOVE more play food made out of crochet.. she wants an ice cream cone, a cake.. anything princess or pony related will make her day.. but again, ideas?

Then two of her best friends' have birthdays coming up!! one will be 3 on May 17 ( so special! just like her big brother Diego ) and her other best friend actually shares the same birthday with her?? how coooool is that? it was destiny for them to meet I think, Ella Dani's other's best friend will be 3 on June 11, they are only 7 hours apart and were born on the same hospital same floor, her mom and I met 7 weeks later by accident on an yahoogroup.. yep destiny.

I just thought I would share those cool stories.

I made a BIG apple for my little girl, i got the pattern from the LionBrand site, they have some very nice free patterns, so any way, here it is! and here is the link in case that you want to make for a loved one too ;) here is my little girl enjoying all the stuff that I have crocheted for her so far ;) I love this new form of art.. my knitting needles are jealous, my brushes can't stand the crochet hooks, and my pencils are ready to battle the hooks.. poor guys, I will go back to them eventually, I never stick to a craft for too long, I rotate them ;)

Latest Hats for friends' of my kids

My little hats ( following the pattern from my How to Crochet KLUTZ book ) have been a big hit with my daugther's friends, here are two more of her bestfriends modeling the latest hats. ;)

My daugther found another hat that I had made for a friend's little girl who lives far away and has claimed it's hers... sigh.. she also found the play food that I have been working so hard on to give to her for her birthday present, well, at least she loved it ;)

I need money! Easter is coming up and I have a few parcels to send back home to my family in Nicaragua, they need to be sent right away before the children outgrow the clothes that I have for them ( 2 baby girls, and before 12 months old, they grow like weeds )

So here are my latest rocks, one of the little one has already been sold, the other one is 5.00 canadians.
The big ones are... 30 for the biggest one and 25 for the other one... ( unless I change my mind and decide to keep the biggest one, it's so pretty... )

Hi, a while back I said I would do this cat beds for local shelters, so far I had made 5 and donated them to a shelter in Bedford, NS. Last night I finished 2 more for this local shelter http://www.bideawhile.org/adoptions/
Where i have been talking to a very nice lady, I have only heard good things about this place, so it's only fair that they get the next batch. Eventually I will make 5 more for the local Spca.

I am supposed to be working on catbeds for a cat shelter, but I have been busy making presents for friends, and my friend's kids, it seems that every one that I know was born in the Spring...

This was my latest project, to make a sweet little ladybug rock for one of my bestfriends, the rock is for her, the hat is for her little girl, and the beanbag is for her little boy ;)

I did manage to finish two cat beds for one of the cat shelters, here they are, my cats, PooToo and Garfield were just testing them, after these beds are done ( 3 more to go ) I will take a break to make some extra special and fuzzy ones for my furry munchkins.

I have been very busy, making stuff for friends, the frog is for a dear friend of mine, that baby sat my kids this weekend.. the hats are birthday presents for two little sisters, then I made one exactly like those two for another little girl that came back from Brazil, and I also gave her that little bumble bee as a Welcome Back present ;) so yeah.. I have been busy.

On Saturday my husband turned 30, having no money after our kitty's double surgery I painted something for him, I am hoping he liked it ;)
The rock is my first painted rock of 2009, I still have many many catbeds to make but for now, I am taking a break to paint a thank you present for a friend, a frog-rock. I will show the photos later.

If you did, thank you, that might have saved our big boy, we brought him back from the Vet on Saturday night, I gave PJ the kitty that lives at the vet one of my CatBeds as a thank you present. He didn't do as much as the Vet did, but every time that I had to go he was my comfort.

Rocky came home in one piece, he was so happy to be home though, that he would not stop rubbing him self against us and playing like the little kitty that he is, that was on Saturday. By Sunday night, we notice stuff coming out from in between his stitches, in a panic we took him to our local Emergency Clinic. By the time we got there so much was coming out of him that I thought we were going to loose him for sure. After a second surgery to re open him up and to clean what had come out and to patch him back up, he was able to come home on that very same night. Now we are keeping him locked up in our bathroom away from high counters and the activity of the house... He is a very lucky boy to be alive, and so are we, since on the night that we had to drive him to the Vet there was a weather warning and cops were telling people to get off the road, we were slidding on our big red van all over the road, it took us so long to get to the Vet that it gave Rocky time to do more damage to him self.. it was quiet the ordeal.

Well he is home today all better, in pain ( I can tell ) but happy once again to be home with his family. He better last a couple of decades as my older cat PooToo ( 17 years old ) has ;)

Our newest family member is at the Vet, he started throwing up Monday night and by Tuesday he hadn't stopped and I was getting very concerned, luckily our vet called to ask how he was doing, since last Friday we took him in to be neutered, I mentioned that he was throwing up and asked if it was related to the neutering, and they didn't think so.. so we rushed him in that night, since then he's had 3 X-Rays, to see if he swallowed anything that he shouldn't have, nothing has come back conclusive... then they gave him something to make his bowels move to see if he would pass it and nothing worked... Yesterday they decided that surgery was best.

Surgery was one of the biggest disappointments, nothing was found, they still don't know what is wrong with him, nothing was found inside of his stomach, so they are back at square one. Today the doctor had some good news he finally has stopped throwing up, but he is still on meds, they will take him off that to see if he can keep food down on his own, if all goes well, we will be able to bring him home tomorrow afternoon. We miss him so much, and I fear that he must think that he has been abandoned once more, after all, we took him off the streets literary, and tried to find his owners and then a home, eventually we got too attached to him and decided to keep him for good, and I mean for good , once a cat is with us he or she is family, our oldest is 17 years old and has been with me since she was 4 weeks old.

hey every one, I said that I would make some catbeds for our local SPCA, but was approached by another cat shelter, so I made 5 beds for this shelter:

These two guys are our latest family memebers, the first one CatRock aka Rocky, just got neutered, the vet believes he is about a year to a year and a half old.. He was a stray that I was feeding for about a month, then just before one of our very fist snow storms, he ran through the open basement window into the house and well.. he's been home ever since ;)

The smaller orange kitty Garfield, is our other new kitty, I adopted him from a local site ( kijiji ) he was being given away for almost 3 months and no one was taking him, he is deaf and has a few... special needs. But he is the funniest, most loving cat ever, I still dont' know why his previous owner didn't want him. Well he is home for good, as proof, our other two cats, are 17 and 9 years old and they have always been with us, through every move, you just don't leave family behind when you move ;)

I have tried to make a few cat beds or mats based on the links that I posted earlier, and so far, I like them all.. except for the first ones that are very very little.. should have used a bigger hook and bigger yarn... learn as you go.. My kids and I decided to sit down and do some funky Valentine's for their friends, just simple paper hearts and a pipe cleaner sandwiched in between made a nice Valentine flower ;) petals are still pending to be added

HI, I have taken a project on, I am very very serious about making these kitty beds... for my local SPCA, I posted an add on my local kijiji site about it and got an amazing amount of positive responses.. so now my next mission is to organize a meeting with fellow cat lovers to work on these beds.. Salt Dough Models

I found this recipe in a children's book called " Starting Points AUTUMN ". I plan to make some Christmas decorations with it! I thought it would be nice to share the recipe.

Recipe For Salt Dough

Stir Together:
. 2 cups of plain flour
. 1 cup of salt
. 1 cup of cold water
. 2 tablespoons of cooking oil

Knead the mixture with your hands until it forms a soft, pliable ball.
Keep your fingeritps covered with flour, so that the dough doesn't stick to them.

COLORING THE DOUGH

You can use the dough as it is, or you may prefer to color it. Divide it into several balls and add either a few drops of food coloring or paint. ( Remember you can mix food coloring just like paint, to get all sorts of colors. ) Knead the dough until the color is well mixed in. If you prefer to use plain dough, you can give your models a shiny, yellow gloss by brushing them with with egg yolk, before they are baked. Or you can paint them, once the are baked.

Line a baking tray with aluminum foil, to provide a non-stick base for your models. Shape the dough as you like and then bake it in the oven at 300F or 150C for at least an hour until it's completely hard. The fatter the model, the longer it will take to bake.

The little boy from across the street who we used to see pretty often not too long ago was just diagnosed with cancer on the kidney, this Monday he had surgery to remove the kidney and the cancer. The surgery went well ;) I am very happy about that, here is the little part that my children and other children that know the little guy did to cheer him up ;) a Get Better soon poster.

I have been working on this project for 8 months! no... not really... I just had to get my act together and actually do it, it was hard for me, being as lazy as I am.. and not having any energy left at night.. plus I got into knitting and sewing in between. One can get very distracted when a new craft becomes a fetish..

Any way! here it is, painted with acrylics, ' Fifi ' from ' Fifi and the Flowertots ' for one of my daughter's best friend. I also painted a rock for her, which I forgot to take a special photo of.

On other news, the little boy from across the street is having surgery on Monday, I have known him since he was 6 months old, he's been at my house pretty much every day until his mother and I had a fall out about 4 months ago, my children have missed him, this is very hard for me to find out how sick he is right now. You might not know him, but say a special little prayer for this sweet little boy.

I am painting a cartoon character on a rocking chair for my friend's little girl, who is also one of Danielita's best friends, they have known each other since they were babies.. actually Danielita met this little girl when she was still in her mommy's tummy ;) Here is what I have so far.

I also made this hemp necklace for my 4 year old over the weekend, he picked the beads for it ( which I made years ago and had them sitting in a box gathering dust)

He is not trying to look cool here or making a face, he was just trying to show off the necklace for the camera.

I am starting this blog just to sell my rocks to help out my two cousins who still live in Nicaragua, Central America.
Here are the prices and remember! All funds will go to help my two female cousins Jaqueline and her younger sister Lupita, they are both single moms with 3 kids each. I help them out mostly by sending them clothes, shoes and other things that I keep gathering for them, the money that I get from my rocks will be used to send them these much needed things.
